Writer-director Christopher Guest (A Mighty Wind) is to reunite with most of his regular line-up of actors and comedians for his new Netflix feature Mascots, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed.
Mascots is the latest in a long-line of “mockumentaries” made by Guest, the most recent being 2006’s For Your Consideration. THR’s sources have suggested that Parker Posey, Bob Balaban, Jane Lynch, John Michael Higgins and Jennifer Coolidge are in talks to join the film, as well as Bridesmaids’ Chris O’Dowd, who starred in Guest’s TV show Family Tree. However, word is that Guest’s frequent collaborator Eugene Levy and co-star Catherine O’Hara will not appear in the film due to scheduling conflicts with their Canadian TV show Schitt’s Creek.
Mascots tells the story of “The 8th World Mascot Association Championships, where a group of ‘unusual’ men and women, with big heads and furry suits, compete to win the prestigious gold fluffy award and be crowned best mascot in the world.” It will debut on Netflix in 2016.
