Daniel Cudmore turned down the role of Colossus in Deadpool

August 7, 2015 by Gary Collinson

Back in February, X2: X-Men United, X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: Days of Future Past star Daniel Cudmore revealed that the role of Colossus would be recast in Fox’s X-Men spinoff Deadpool, with Andre Tricoteux (Seventh Son) subsequently announced as having secured the part.

Well, it turns out that Cudmore was offered to reprise the role, with director Tim Miller telling Empire that: “I did actually call Daniel Cudmore to ask him if he wanted to do this, even though he’d be entirely CG the whole time. He was very nice about it. He was like, ‘I appreciate your offering, but nah.'”

Cudmore then took to Twitter in response, stating that: “I did get a call for Colossus but it was CGI/stunts and not using my voice so I graciously passed. Love 2 play him in the future as an actor. Really looking forward to @deadpoolmovie as I was such a fan of the leaked script and can’t wait to see what Tim Miller did with it.”

Would you have liked to see Daniel Cudmore returning as Colossus in Deadpool, or are you looking forward to a new take? Let us know in the comments below…

Deadpool is set for release on February 5th 2016 in the UK and February 12th 2016 in the States. Reynolds and Miller will share the screen with Morena Baccarin (Gotham) as Copycat, Gina Carano (Fast & Furious 6) as Angel Dust, Ed Skrein (Game of Thrones) as Ajax, Andre Tricoteux (Seventh Son) as Colossus, Leslie Uggams (Roots) as Blind Al and newcomer Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead.
