Fox in negotiations with Marvel for X-Men TV series

August 6, 2015 by Gary Collinson

Back in October of last year it was rumoured that Fox was developing a TV series set in the X-Men universe, with the reports subsequently confirmed in January when it was revealed that Evan Katz and Manny Coto (24) would serve as showrunners and Star Trek 3 scribes Patrick McKay and JD Payne were tackling the script.

Since then we’ve heard very little, but now Fox Television Group Chairman Dana Walden has confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that they are currently in talks with Marvel and hope to make an announcement soon.

“[For] X-Men, we’re in negotiations with Marvel. We’re hopeful we’ll be able to announce something soon. We’re not closed on a deal yet but it’s something we’re definitely pursuing. The characters from the X-Men franchise are with Fox on the feature side so we won’t be including Marvel characters that are at ABC with Disney. This will be exclusively the franchise as it has existed at Fox.”

If talk is to be believed, Marvel and Fox don’t have the best of relationships, so it will be interesting to see if the comic book juggernaut signs off on the deal, and what they might get in return.
