Ronda Rousey wants to play Captain Marvel

August 11, 2015 by Justin Cook

Marvel’s Captain Marvel film is still a few years away, but actresses are already throwing their hats into the ring to play Carol Danvers.

The latest person to express interest in the role is UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey. During a Reddit AMA, she was asked if she would play a superhero in a movie, to which she replied, “well… a lot of the good ones have been taken, but I’d like to vie for Miss Marvel.”

Rousey has some acting experience, popping up in such films as The Expendables 3, Entourage and Furious 7, but she hasn’t exactly earned rave reviews for her performances. In fact, many critics have criticized her work in those films.

Recently, Paramount Pictures announced that Rousey would star in a film adaptation of her autobiography My Fight/Your Fight, so she’ll certainly be showing up on the big screen even more in the future.

Emily Blunt, Charlize Theron, Jessica Chastain and more have all been rumored for the role, but no official announcement has been made by Marvel yet.

Captain Marvel is set for release on November 2, 2018.
