Starry Eyes directors to take on Exorcism Diaries

August 18, 2015 by Scott J. Davis

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Starry Eyes filmmakers Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer are set to take on a new horror film, Exorcism Diaries, for Lionsgate and Summit Entertainment.

The film was previously in the hands of Oculus’ Mike Flanagan and Jeff Howard, but has now found its way to Kolsch and Widmyer who are set to rewrite and direct the film which is “based on a true story” and comes from the book The Real Story Behind the Exorcist: A Study of the Haunted Boy and Other True-Life Horror Legends from Around the Nation’s Capital by Mark Opsasnick.

The site reports the film will tell the story of “a young woman, fresh out of rehab and looking to make amends, who discovers her family’s horrifying connection to the most famous exorcism of all time may be the cause behind her brother’s increasingly violent behavior.”

No release date has been set for the film, but expect to see it in 2016.
