Powers Boothe joins Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

October 15, 2015 by Gary Collinson

It looks like Powers Boothe is set to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with the official Marvel site announcing that the actor is set for a recurring role in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as Gideon Malick, “a notorious man whose loyalties remain a mystery.”

“Gideon is incredibly menacing and in him we have a character that even the stone-cold Grant Ward would fear,” said Executive Producer/Head of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb. “Only someone of Powers’ caliber could deliver the type of ominous and powerful performance we needed.”

Boothe previously appeared in The Avengers, where he portrayed a member of the World Security Council.

If I’m not mistaken, this will be the first time an actor has played two roles in the MCU, aside from Paul Bettany as JARVIS/The Vision..?
