Rupert Wyatt to direct The Exorcist TV pilot

February 4, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Having departed 20th Century Fox’s X-Men spinoff last year, Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) is heading to the small screen for his next project, with Deadline reporting that the director is set to helm the pilot for Fox’s TV adaptation of The Exorcist.

The one-hour drama is a modern reimagining of William Peter Blatty’s 1971 novel and is described as “a propulsive, serialized psychological thriller following two very different men tackling one family’s case of horrifying demonic possession, and confronting the face of true evil.”

The Exorcist is being executive produced by Jeremy Slater (The Lazarus Project, Fantastic Four), who has also written the script for the pilot.
