Scream Queens’ Brianne Howey joins The Exorcist TV pilot

February 27, 2016 by Amie Cranswick

Fresh from her role in Scream Queens, Brianne Howey has signed on for a lead role in Fox’s upcoming reinvention of The Exorcist, where she is set to play Charlotte, “a former ballet dancer, once the golden child, she has not been the same since her terrible accident. Now depressed and anti-social, she’s closed off and guarded. So much so that her mother has begun to believe she might be influenced by a demon, though the thought would make Charlotte laugh.”

The one-hour drama is a modern reimagining of William Peter Blatty’s 1971 novel and is described as “a propulsive, serialized psychological thriller following two very different men tackling one family’s case of horrifying demonic possession, and confronting the face of true evil.” Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) is directing, with Jeremy Slater (The Lazarus Project, Fantastic Four) writing the script and serving as executive producer.
