Daisy Ridley dismisses speculation that Rogue One’s Jyn Erso is Rey’s mother

April 11, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Well, speaking to MTV at the MTV Movie Awards, Ridley has put the speculation to rest, stating that: “I’m not being funny, you guys, but just because she’s white and got brown hair … it doesn’t mean she’s my mom.”

Ridley then went on to downplay the importance of Rey’s parentage, adding: “I think the amazing thing about [Star Wars: The Force Awakens] is that Finn and Rey don’t come from anywhere, and they find a place. So to me, it’s funny that people think it’s so important because I don’t really think it is.”

ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY, is the first film in the new standalone movies from Lucasfilm. It tells the story of how a group of unlikely heroes unite to undertake a daring and seemingly impossible mission to steal the plans for the Death Star.
