Nathan Fillion’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 role revealed

Having made a brief cameo voicing a prison inmate in Guardians of the Galaxy, former Firefly star Nathan Fillion is set to return to the MCU – and reunite with his pal James Gunn – on the currently-in-production sequel, and this time he’ll be playing a character familiar to fans of the Marvel universe. Minor spoilers follow…

So, thanks to a batch of images that have arrived online via Comic Book, it has been revealed that Fillion is portraying Simon Williams, better known to comic book fans as the villain-turned-superhero-turned Hollywood star Wonder Man. Set to the all-new sonic backdrop of Awesome Mixtape #2, “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” continues the team’s adventures as they unravel the mystery of Peter Quill’s true parentage.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is scheduled for release on April 28th 2017 in the UK and on May 5th in the States, with director James Gunn reuniting with returning cast members Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Dave Bautista (Drax), Bradley Cooper (Rocket), Vin Diesel (Groot), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Michael Rooker (Yondu), Glenn Close (Nova Prime) and Sean Gunn (Kraglin) alongside new additions Kurt Russell (The Hateful Eight), Elizabeth Debicki (The Man from U.N.C.L.E.), Chris Sullivan (The Drop), Pom Klementieff (Oldboy) and Sylvester Stallone (Creed).
