Samuel L. Jackson reveals when Nick Fury will return to Marvel films

April 17, 2016 by Justin Cook

Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury is one of most veteran members of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, first appearing in 2008’s Iron Man and popping up in six other films since then. While he started off as one of the most important members of the franchise, being the lead recruiter of the Avengers, following Phase One of the MCU, his role has been reduced just a bit, appearing in only two Phase Two movies (Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Avengers: Age of Ultron), and being left out of the cast for Captain America: Civil War. For fans who were wondering when the eye patch-wearing former director of S.H.I.E.L.D. would show his face again, Jackson may have an answer.

During an interview with Fandango regarding his role in The Legend of Tarzan, Jackson was asked about his future involvement in the MCU, to which he replied, “I think I’m in Avengers 3 and 4, but I’m not in Civil War.”

There are certainly a lot of Marvel movies set to be released between Civil War, which comes out in less than three weeks, and 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War – Part I and 2019’s Avengers: Infinity War – Part II, so it’s not outside the realm of possibility that Jackson will at least make a cameo in a movie before then, especially considering that he has been rumoured for 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok for a couple of months now. Regardless, it’s good to know that fans haven’t seen the last of Fury, who will always be an MCU staple.
