Captain Marvel will be in Avengers: Infinity War, the Russo brothers accidentally confirm

May 6, 2016 by James Garcia

While doing a press event at the Smithsonian Institute to promote the U.S. release of Captain America: Civil War, directors Anthony and Joe Russo let slip that a certain blonde Marvel heroine will soon make her debut – in 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War – Part 1 (which we now know is not the official title).

That’s right, Captain Marvel herself will show up in Infinity War in some capacity, before making her solo film debut in 2019. The Russos unfortunately didn’t give away any other details, and instead tried to sweep their mistake under the rug. When a fan pounced and asked, “Did you just confirm Captain Marvel?” they replied:

“Um… Captain Barvel. Totally different character.”

Yeah, we’re not going to let you get away with that one, fellas.

Avengers: Infinity War – Part 1 will hit theaters on May 4, 2018. Captain Marvel will get her solo film on March 8, 2019, followed by Avengers: Infinity War – Part 2 on May 3, 2019.
