Mazkenzie Foy joins Disney’s live-action The Nutcracker

July 29, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Variety is reporting that Mackenzie Foy (The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Interstellar) is set for the lead role of Clara in Disney’s live-action adaptation of The Nutcracker.

The film – titled The Nutcracker and the Four Realms – is being directed by Lasse Hallstrom (Chocolat) from a script by Ashleigh Powell (Somacell), and also has ballerina Misty Copeland attached to the cast.

The Nutcracker is a ballet scored by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and is based upon E.T.A. Hoffman’s 1816 story The Nutcracker and the Mouse King, which follows a young girl whose favourite Christmas toy, the Nutcracker, comes to life and battles an army of evil mice, led by the Mouse King.
