Frederick Schmidt to play Metallo in Supergirl season 2

Not only is the second season of Supergirl set to add the Man of Steel, played by Tyler Hoechlin, but it’s also introducing one of Superman’s greatest foes, with Entertainment Weekly reporting that Frederick Schmidt (Snow in Paradise) has been cast as Metallo.

The official character description for Metallo, who will featur in at least two episodes of the second season, reads: “When international assassin John Corben is badly injured after taking on both Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and Superman (Tyler Hoechlin), he is reborn by a shadow organization into the Kryptonite-powered supervillain Metallo.”

Supergirl season two gets underway on The CW on October 10th, with new additions to the cast including Tyler Hoechlin as Superman, Lynda Carter as the President of the United States, Chris Wood as Mon-El, Sharon Leal as Miss Martian, Katie McGrath as Lena Luthor, Ian Gomez as Snapper Carr, and Floriana Lima as Maggie Sawyer.
