Rumoured shortlist for the next James Bond

September 1, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Despite the fact there’s been no official word on whether Daniel Craig is retiring his license to kill following last year’s Spectre, sites have been going crazy with speculation as to who could be the next actor to take over as Ian Fleming’s 007.

Well, according to The Sun, EON Productions and MGM have identified a shortlist of six actors to succeed Craig in the role, although of course this being The Sun, you probably want to take the report with a healthy pinch of salt.

The tabloid is reporting that Idris Elba (Luther), Michael Fassbender (The Light Between Oceans), Tom Hiddleston (The Night Manager), Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy), Luke Evans (Fast & Furious 6) and Aidan Turner (Poldark) top the shortlist at MGM, while producer Barbara Broccoli is also keen on Jamie Bell (Fantastic Four) and James Norton (War & Peace).

“While the MGM executives have an idea, Barbara makes the ultimate decision on the role,” claims The Sun’s ‘source’. “Once Barbara decides who she wants to direct, then the audition process will be vital.”
