Toby Stephens to lead Netflix’s Lost in Space remake

September 21, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Casting is underway on Netflix’s upcoming remake of the TV sci-fi classic Lost in Space, with Deadline reporting that Toby Stephens (Black Sails) has signed on to play John Robinson, with Maxwell Jenkins (Sense8) set to portray the youngest Robinson child Will, and Taylor Russell (Falling Skies) as eldest daughter Judy.

The new series will take its cue from the original and centres on the Robinson family, who set off on an expedition into space but find themselves stranded light years from their destination. Forced to come together in a time of crisis, the Robinson family find themselves battling a strange alien environment, and their own personal demons.

Lost in Space has been written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless (Dracula Untold), who are executive producing with showrunner Zack Estrin (Prison Break). Neil Marshall (Dog Soldiers) is also on board to serve as supervising producer, and will direct several episodes.
