Donnie Yen announces Ip Man 4

October 1, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Following his adventure in the galaxy far, far away in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Donnie Yen will be returning to the role of Wing Chun grandmaster Yip Man, with the martial arts superstar announcing on Instagram that he’ll be reuniting with director Wilson Yip for Ip Man 4.

The first Ip Man was released in 2008 and was followed by Ip Man 2 in 2010 and Ip Man 3 in 2015. Yen previously suggested that given his age, Ip Man 3 may have been his last kung fu movie, but later stated that he’d be open to another instalment if the third movie performed well enough and the script was right.

Yen will next be seen in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which opens on December 16th.
