Michael Green to serve as showrunner on Y: The Last Man TV series

November 16, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Back in October of last year it was announced that FX is teaming up with writer Brian K. Vaughan for a TV adaptation of his Vertigo comic book series Y: The Last Man, and now THR is reporting that Michael Green (American Gods) has signed on to the project as showrunner.

The critically acclaimed comic book series was published between 2002 and 2008 and “revolves around Yorick Brown — the last surviving human with a Y chromosome — and his Capuchin monkey, Ampersand. The series follows escape artist Yorick after the mysterious plague as he sets out to find what might have wiped out the world’s male chromosomes.”

Prior to FX picking up the rights, New Line Cinema spent several years developing a feature film adaptation, which had D.J. Caruso (Disturbia) and Dan Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane) attached to direct at various points.

Green is certainly a busy man at present; in addition to American Gods, he’s recently worked on the upcoming films Logan, Blade Runner 2049 and Murder on the Orient Express.
