The Walking Dead ratings fall to lowest since season 3

November 23, 2016 by Gary Collinson

It may have enjoyed a whopping ratings success with its premiere episode last month, pulling in a huge 17 million viewers, but AMC’s hit zombie drama The Walking Dead has now plunged to its lowest ratings since season three in 2013.

The second episode of season seven plummeted 25% to 12.5 million viewers, although this should not be too much of a surprise given that many people will have tuned in to the premiere in order to learn the identity of Negan and Lucille’s victim(s). However, the third episode then dropped to 11.7 million, with the fourth at 11.4 million and this past Sunday’s episode hitting a low of 11 million.

Looks like many of those fans who vowed that they were done with the show following the season six cliffhanger and brutal season seven premiere may have been telling the truth…

It is of course far too early to start ringing the death knell for The Walking Dead, as 11 million viewers is still a huge number, but it will certainly be interesting to see how the ratings pan out for the rest of the season.

Are you one of The Walking Dead fans who’ve tuned out? Can AMC halt the decline this season? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…
