The Walking Dead season 7 premiere scores huge rating

October 25, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Well, no surprise here, but the season seven premiere of The Walking Dead has enjoyed a mammoth rating, with ‘The Day Will Come When You Won’t Be’ pulling in 17 million viewers and an 8.4 rating among the 18-49 demographic.

EW reports that those figures put it ahead of NBC’s Sunday Night Football in terms of demo, while the nearest scripted shows from the past couple of weeks were The Big Bang Theory and Empire with a 3.5 rating.

The season five opener of The Walking Dead still holds the record for the show’s biggest premiere with 17.3 million viewers and an 8.8, although the season seven premiere does not yet include all forms of viewing, and so a new record is expected.
