Sebastian Stan cast alongside Margot Robbie in I, Tonya

December 14, 2016 by Ricky Church

Marvel’s Winter Soldier will soon be joining forces with DC’s Harley Quinn in the upcoming Tonya Harding biopic I, Tonya. Deadline has reported that Sebastian Stan will star as Harding’s ex-husband and partner Jeff Gillooly, who helped plan an attack against figure skater Tonya Harding’s rival in the 1994 Olympics.

The film will examine the incident and the events that led up to it. In 1994, just prior to the Lillehammer Olympics, Harding and Gillooly planned to assault skater Nancy Kerrigan in an effort to insure she would not compete in the Olympics, thus giving Harding a good chance at gaining a medal. The assault was mostly botched with Kerrigan suffering a mere bruise and eventually securing the silver medal.

Margot Robbie will play Harding with a script by Steven Rogers and helmed by The Finest Hours director Craig Gillespie. Production will get underway in January.
