Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day and Burn Gorman reportedly returning for Pacific Rim: Uprising

January 11, 2017 by Gary Collinson

It looks like we may be seeing a few familiar faces in Pacific Rim: Uprising, with cinematographer Dan Mindel sharing an image to Instagram which features a cast list that includes several names from the Guillermo del Toro-directed first movie, along with one potential newcomer to the franchise…

The cast list includes Rinko Kikuchi (Mako Mori), Charlie Day (Dr. Newton Geiszler) and Burn Gorman (Dr. Hermann Gottlieb). It also seemingly reveals that Karl Urban has joined the sequel, although Urban has since denied his involvement on Twitter:

Hey Peter ,
No , I'm not part of this project ,
Look forward to seeing it though.

Mindel has since deleted the post, which would seem to suggest it’s genuine…

Pacific Rim: Uprising is set for release on February 23rd 2018, with Steven S. DeKnight (Daredevil) directing a cast that includes John Boyega (Star Wars: The Force Awakens), Adria Arjona (True Detective), Scott Eastwood (Suicide Squad), Cailee Spaeny (Counting to 1,000), Levi Meaden (Aftermath), Karan Brar (Diary of a Wimpy Kid), Nick Tarabay (Spartacus), Zhang Jin (Ip Man 3), Mackenyu (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure) and Jing Tian (Police Story: Lockdown).
