Sabrina the Teenage Witch may feature in live-action Archie show Riverdale

January 11, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Later this month, The CW is set to launch Riverdale, a modern, live-action take on the Archie comic book universe which is set to bring the likes of Archie Andrews, Jughead Jones, Betty Cooper, Veronica Lodge and Josie McCoy to the small screen.

Well, it seems another iconic Archie character may also show up in the series, with showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa teasing a potential appearance from Sabrina the Teenage Witch.

“Some people don’t even know that Sabrina is in the Archie family,” said Aguirre-Sacasa at the Television Critics Association panel (via EW). “There is absolutely a universe where Sabrina pops up in Riverdale or one town over in Greendale. Certainly, the priority is launching Riverdale and making sure that show is as good as it can be and as embraced as we want it to be. I’ll just tease that Sabrina has potential with a capital P.”

Sabrina the Teenage Witch was created by George Gladir and Dan DeCarlo, and made her first appearance in 1962. It went on to spawn three animated series (in 1970, 1999 and 2011), along with the popular live-action series starring Melissa Joan Hart, which ran between 1996 and 2003.
