Breaking: The Batman movie has found a director

February 11, 2017 by Tai Freligh

Variety is reporting that short list favourite Matt Reeves is in early talks to direct The Batman movie after Ben Affleck stepped down in January.

Sources tell Variety that Reeves, known for Cloverfield and Planet of the Apes has committed to helm the film, although a deal isn’t completed yet.  Affleck will still have a significant role in the direction of the film, but will have more time now to focus on acting.

No timeline has been given for production to start, but given that Reeves is in post-production for War for the Planet of the Apes movie, there could yet still be a 2017 start date for The Batman.

Warner Bros. had originally planned for a 2018 release date for the film, although recent rumours had suggested it could be pushed back to 2019. Hopefully we’ll know more soon.

What do you make of Matt Reeves directing The Batman? Is he a worthy replacement for Ben Affleck? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…
