Elizabeth Moss set for BBC America series Typhoid Mary

May 24, 2017 by Samuel Brace

Actress Elizabeth Moss is set to star in a new series titled Typhoid Mary for BBC America.

The former Mad Men star is enjoying much success with her Hulu series The Handmaid’s Tale and is now set to lead a new television project for BBC America based on the Mary Beth Keane novel.

Typhoid Mary will be a limited series and will tell the story of the infamous woman who was an Irish immigrant cook and the first known healthy carrier of typhoid fever.

She became infamously known as Typhoid Mary for knowingly spreading the disease among wealthy New York families during the early 20th century.

Phil Morrison has signed on as director for the project after having received the material from Moss who had snapped up the rights to Keane’s book.

“I’m so honored to be working with the incredible team of collaborators we have pulled together with Phil, Robin, BBC America and Annapurna,” Moss said. “I look forward to telling this story about one of the most infamous women in America, ‘Typhoid Mary,’ a woman whose true tale has never been told.”

Robin Veith is set to write the adaptation of Typhoid Mary and will also serve as an executive producer alongside Moss, Morrison, and Annapurna’s Sue Naegle and Megan Ellison.
