Code 8 begins filming with Stephen Amell and Robbie Amell starring

June 8, 2017 by Ricky Church

After raising the necessary finance through crowdfunding last year, actors and cousins Stephen and Robbie Amell have begun shooting Code 8 in Toronto. The film is being directed by Jeff Chan and also stars The Fast and the Furious‘ Sung Kang, Maudie‘s Kari Matchett, Frontier’s Greg Bryk and Hannibal’s Aaron Abrams.

Code 8 is set in a world where 4% of the population is born with varying supernatural abilities, but those who are gifted with abilities face discrimination and poverty, often turning to crime in a world that is virtually a police state. In an effort to pay for his mother’s health treatment, Robbie Amell’s character is seduced into criminal underworld by Stephen Amell’s character, who works for a powerful drug lord, played by Bryk.

“We’re thrilled to be starting production with such an extraordinary cast and creative team led by Jeff, and excited to bring a full-length Code 8 to the world,” said Robbie and Stephen Amell.

Both actors star in The CW’s Arrowverse of superhero shows, with Stephen Amell portraying Oliver Queen/Green Arrow in Arrow and Robbie Amell having had a recurring role in The Flash as Ronnie Raymond/Firestorm.
