Lord and Miller spoke with Warner Bros. about directing The Flash during Han Solo production hiatus

June 21, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Last night it was reported that directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller have exited the Han Solo Star Wars Anthology movie due to “creative differences”, with the duo reportedly fired from the production after their vision clashed with that of screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan.

Prior to their exit, production on Han Solo was put on hold in order for Lucasfilm to take stock of their progress on the film, during which time Lord and Miller are said to have been in touch with Warner Bros. about potentially directing the DC Extended Universe solo movie The Flash.

The LEGO Movie and Jump Street helmers were previously attached to The Flash back in 2015, penning the treatment for the movie. Since then, both Seth Grahame-Smith and Rick Famuyiwa have been attached to direct, before exiting themselves due to creative differences.

At present, Robert Zemeckis is said to be the front runner to direct The Flash after both Sam Raimi and Marc Webb passed on the opportunity. Matthew Vaughn has also been rumoured as a potential candidate.

The Flash will star Ezra Miller as the Scarlet Speedster alongside Kiersey Clemons as Iris West and Billy Crudup as Henry Allen. It is currently without a set release date.
