Wonder Woman star Chris Pine has an issue with Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War

June 4, 2017 by Robert Kojder

Generally, the talent involved in all of the various blockbuster superhero movies and cinematic universes don’t really throw shade at one another, instead choosing to complement the works of others. For example, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn recently took to social media to praise Patty Jenkins’ DC Extended Universe entry Wonder Woman, which is also receiving massive acclaim from fans and critics alike.

However, Chris Pine – who plays World War I spy Steve Trevor in Wonder Woman – has chosen to take a jab at Marvel’s ultimate superhero thrill ride Avengers: Infinity War during an interview with Collider, where he was expressing what sets Wonder Woman apart from other comic book movies.

“Within this genre, it’s difficult to do something new, and usually you just see a bunch of people killing one another in outfits, and blowing up cities,” said Pine. “Like I know there’s a thing called Infinity War coming out, which is like “Really? Like, Infinity War? We need more war for all time?” So I thought at the heart of this is a woman who’s about love and compassion, and love trumps all, and how great is that? That’s a pretty crazy, awesome thing.”

To be fair, it does not sound like Chris Pine actually has a grasp on the concept of Avengers: Infinity War, but let us know your thoughts on his comments below…

Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.

Wonder Woman sees Patty Jenkins (Monster) directing a cast that includes Gal Gadot (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice), Chris Pine (Star Trek), Connie Nielsen (Gladiator), Robin Wright (House of Cards), Danny Huston (X-Men Origins: Wolverine), David Thewlis (The Theory of Everything), Ewen Bremner (Snowpiercer), Said Taghmaoui (American Hustle), Elena Anaya (The Skin I Live In), Lisa Loven Kongsli (Force Majeure), Lucy Davis (Shaun of the Dead) and Ann Wolf.
