Woody Harrelson and Kevin Costner to hunt Bonnie & Clyde in Netflix’s The Highwaymen

June 25, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Deadline is reporting that Woody Harrelson and Kevin Costner are in talks to play legendary lawmen Frank Hamer and Manny Gault, the two former Texas Rangers tasked with hunting down notorious outlaws Bonnie & Clyde, in the drama The Highwaymen.

The site reports that Netflix is currently in talks to acquire the project from Universal Pictures, where it was set up four years ago. John Lee Hancock (Saving Mr. Banks, The Founder) will direct, and has rewritten an earlier script from John Fusco (Young Guns, Hidalgo).

Rather than focussing on the two outlaw lovers, famously portrayed by Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway in 1967’s Bonnie & Clyde, The Highwaymen will explore the story from the point of view of the posse assembled by Hamer to bring their violent crime spree to and end.
