Bond 25 gets release date, Christopher Nolan tips Tom Hardy for future 007

July 25, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Eon Productions and MGM have announced that James Bond is set to return to the big screen in 2019, with Bond 25 receiving a release date of November 8th 2019 in the U.S., with an earlier opening in the UK (an exact date is yet to be revealed).

Bond 25 is being written by Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, who have worked on all six Bonds from The World Is Not Enough to Spectre. As yet, there’s no word on a director to replace the outgoing Sam Mendes, nor do we have confirmation as to who’ll be portraying 007 – although reports this month have suggested that Daniel Craig has signed on for his fifth and likely final outing.

Saying that, if Craig is on board, it doesn’t make much sense why they wouldn’t have announced it alongside the release date…

Meanwhile, one person who has been tipped for the director’s chair is Christopher Nolan, with the Dunkirk helmer suggesting that he has had talks with Eon and would be keen to sign on for a Bond movie at some point, should he get the opportunity to reinvent the franchise.

Presumably, this means with a new actor as 007, and Nolan has revealed to the Happy Sad Confused podcast (via The Wrap) that his pick for 007 would be his regular collaborator Tom Hardy: “He’d be amazing,” said Nolan. “He really would.”

Who would you like to see directing Bond 25, and are you excited about the prospect of seeing Daniel Craig back for another outing? Let us know in the comments below…
