Affleck signs on for Batman trilogy, Thanos in Avengers 4, first look at Domino in Deadpool 2 and more – Daily News Roundup

August 1, 2017 by admin

BATFLECK TRILOGY BACK ON THE CARDS?

Just prior to San Diego Comic Con, the trade papers began to report that Warner Bros. and DC were having concerns with Ben Affleck as Batman in their DC Extended Universe, but the actor himself dismissed the rumours. According to a new – and very dubious – report, Fortress of Solicitude are claiming that Affleck has signed on for a brand new trilogy of movies directed by Matt Reeves, which would lead into Batman Beyond. Take all this with a pinch of salt, and read more here.

KOMBAT REBOOT

We spoke with Wish Upon director John R. Leonetti about his upcoming movie, and managed to squeeze in a question about his thoughts on James Wan’s upcoming Mortal Kombat reboot. Leonetti directed 1997’s Mortal Kombat: Annihilation and has worked with Wan on movies such as The Conjuring and Insidious. “We haven’t talked in a while, but we have talked about this,” Leonetti said of his relationship with Wan. “I think video games are huge, and [the reboot was] inevitable. I just hope this time – and I know he will – that James will put a different slant on it. I think he’ll make it really fun. I doubt I’ll have anything to do with it.” Read more here.

RETURN OF THANOS

Since Marvel Studios decided to rejig the titles of the next two Avengers movies from Avengers: Infinity War Parts I and II to Avengers: Infinity War and (the as-yet) Untitled Avengers, there’s been a lot of speculation as to what Marvel could have in store for this second movie. While Avengers 4 remains shrouded in mystery, we do now know that Josh Brolin WILL be back as the Mad Titan, with the actor posting on Instagram that he’s gearing up to start shooting the next movie. Read more here.

CGI EGON

Following the CGI return to the screen of Grand Moff Tarkin in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and reports that Ridley Scott could have a CGI Ripley in his next Alien movie, the daughter of Harold Ramis has spoken about the possibility of her father appearing in a future Ghostbusters outing. “Personally, for me, it is hard to imagine that people would accept it, but who knows,” she said. “The technology now is amazing. I try to think what would he have thought. If it’s great and it works, then good. And if there is a problem, then obviously no.” Read more here.

DOMINO BEETZ DEADPOOL

Ryan Reynolds shared an image online yesterday revealing our first look at Zazie Beetz as Domino in Deadpool 2, which you can check out here.

YOU CAN’T TRANSFORM ME!

Coinciding with the start of production on Bumblebee, Paramount Pictures has announced that 16-time WWE Champion John Cena has signed on for a lead role in the Transformers spinoff. Read more here.

INTERVIEW OF THE DAY

We had the chance to sit down and speak with Wish Upon director John R. Leonetti, which you can read here.
