Amazon’s Galaxy Quest TV series back on track with new writer

August 21, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Having put its plans for a TV revival of the cult 1999 comedy Galaxy Quest on hold following the death of Alan Rickman, it seems that Amazon is once again turning its attention to the planned small screen series.

According to THR, writer, actor and comedian Paul Scheer (The Disaster Artist) has signed on to pen the script for the show, taking over from Robert Gordon, the writer of the original movie.

At this point, it is unclear whether Galaxy Quest director Dean Parisot remains on board, nor whether cast members such as Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, Tony Shalhoub, Sam Rockwell, Daryl Mitchell and Enrico Colantoni are set to return.

Galaxy Quest followed the cast of a defunct Star Trek-style TV show, who find themselves wrapped up in an intergalactic conflict when they are visited by aliens who believe the show to be a documentary.
