Finn Jones to begin Iron Fist season 2 training, teases character’s classic costume

August 23, 2017 by Samuel Brace

Finn Jones has announced that his training for Iron Fist season 2 is to begin next week and the actor has also teased the introduction of the character’s classic costume.

With The Defenders now in the books, our attention will once again be drawn to the shows that comes next, with one of them being Iron Fist season 2.

The show and the character of Danny Rand weren’t received particularly well when first introduced to fans, but reception of Iron Fist has improved somewhat due to his appearance in The Defenders.

Iron Fist has been renewed for a second season by Netflix and the actor behind the character, Finn Jones, has revealed to Inverse that preparation is beginning almost immediately.

“Now, just gonna let you know, moving into Season 2 of Iron Fist, I’m actually starting my training next week. We’re at least four or five months away from shooting, so this time around, I’m being given a lot more preparation leading up to Season 2, which I think is really gonna have a huge improvement on the quality of the fight scenes in Season 2 of Iron Fist.”

While we don’t have a release date for the second season, Jones has teased fans with when we might get to see Iron Fist don his superhero costume for the first time.

“It will. And look, I’m not the writer for this show, nor am I the executive producer,” Jones said to CBR. “So unfortunately these things don’t fall on my head. But from an actor’s distinct perspective, I certainly think that will happen within, hopefully, Season Two.”

Jones also talked about Danny’s progression towards becoming a more traditional superhero:

“I think the way that we’re telling our version of Danny’s story is there’s a real progression,” Jones said. “The first season of Iron Fist, he doesn’t even really know what a superhero is, let alone identify himself as one. It’s not until Defenders and when he meets the three superheroes, that he kind of goes, ‘Oh, you can actually do something with these abilities. You can find a purpose.’ Which is exactly what Danny had been struggling to find throughout his whole life.”
