Miami Vice to be rebooted with Vin Diesel producing

August 3, 2017 by Ricky Church

NBC is set to reboot their hit 80s television series Miami Vice for next year. Per The Hollywood Reporter, the reboot will be headed up by The Fast and The Furious franchise leads Vin Diesel and Chris Morgan.

Miami Vice was a popular police procedural in the 80s starring Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas as Miami undercover cops James “Sonny” Crockett and Ricardo “Rico” Tubbs. The original series ran for five seasons and was executive produced by Heat director Michael Mann, who later directed a feature film adaptation starring Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx.

Diesel and Morgan have worked together on all the Fast and Furious films and will act as executive producers for the show with 24: Live Another Day‘s Shana Waterson. The Mist‘s Peter Macmanus will write the script for the pilot.

Miami Vice is in development for the 2018 – 2019 television season at NBC.
