Natalie Portman to play a bull rider in Bronco Belle

August 7, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Deadline is reporting that Natalie Portman is in talks to star in Bronco Belle, where she’ll portray an aspiring bull rider. Anna Rose Holmer (The Fits) is also in negotiations to direct, from a script by Khurram Longi.

Described as a female empowerment tale, Bronco Belle follows Raylene Jackson, ” a waitress who dreams of becoming a champion steer rider with the help of an ornery veteran mentor. She is not welcomed as she infiltrates the male-dominated rodeo circuit, but the film takes on a Rocky-esque tone because even though she seems overmatched by the beasts she rides, she just will not be denied.”

Portman has recently finished work on Alex Garland’s Annihilation, which is set for release on February 23rd 2018.
