One of the best posters to come out for Spider-Man: Homecoming was the laziest one: A sleeping Spider-Man, clad in school jacket, with headphones on. The poster encapsulates everything that makes this Spider-Man different from the previous incarnations. It was perfect.
What you may not have known is that the poster is all just the result of a very tired Tom Holland. An Instagram user going by the name of therealspideyman posted an interview clip where Tom Holland reveals the true origin of the poster.
“Interesting story about that poster is that is actually me asleep,” said Holland. “That’s not part of the movie, that’s me in-between takes asleep. We were shooting this scene and I was just really tired that day, and I was just asleep on the floor, and the photographer took a picture. So when they made that the poster, I was like ‘What! What the hell, guys!’”
So there you have it. No genius marketing at work here. Just a seriously tired lead actor taking a nap, and creating the perfect moment.
A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Spider-Man: Homecoming sees Tom Holland and Marisa Tomei reprising their roles from Captain America: Civil War as Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Aunt May, alongside Marvel veterans Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark and Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan.
