Justin Lin to direct feature adaptation of documentary Abacus: Small Enough to Jail

Coinciding with its premiere on PBS Frontline tonight, The Wrap is reporting that Justin Lin (Fast & Furious, Star Trek Beyond) is set to direct a feature adaptation of the documentary Abacus: Small Enough to Jail, which will be written by Kenneth Lin (House of Cards).

The film tells the story of the family-owned Abacus Federal Savings Bank in Manhattan’s Chinatown, which was the only bank to be prosecuted by the U.S. government following the 2008 mortgage crisis, leading to a five year legal battle as the owners, the Sung family, fought to protect their business.

It’s unclear where the project will fit into Lin’s hectic schedule; the filmmaker is currently attached to a host of projects, including Space Jam 2, Hot Wheels and a Shaolin Temple remake, along with Warrior and S.W.A.T. TV series.
