Rumour: Marvel developing a Power Pack movie for Phase Four

September 21, 2017 by Gary Collinson

With Phase Three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in full swing, Marvel is keeping details of Phase Four fairly close to its chest.

We do know that a Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is on the cards, along with an increased emphasis on the cosmic side of the MCU, and now, according to That Hashtag Show, we have word that the long-rumoured Power Pack movie may also feature as part of the slate.

According to the site, Marvel has tapped Jonathan Schwartz, former assistant to Kevin Feige, to oversee development of the project, with a view to creating a “Spy Kids-like story” revolving around the adventures of Jack, Julie, Katie and Alex Power.

If you’re unfamiliar with the charatcers, the Powers are four preteen siblings who find themselves granted extraordinary abilities from the dying alien Aelfyre “Whitey” Whitemane, who has come to Earth to stop their scientist father from accidentally destroying the planet. However, Whitey has been followed to Earth by the hostile reptilian race the Snarks, and the youngsters are forced to use their newfound powers to defeat them, before deciding to continue operating as superheroes.

Rumblings of a Power Pack movie date back to the early 2000s, when Marvel signed a deal with Artisan Entertainment to develop a host of superhero properties for the screen.
