First trailer for Luther creator’s new “pre-apocalyptic” crime drama Hard Sun

December 24, 2017 by Gary Collinson

BBC One and Hulu have released a first trailer for Luther creator Neil Cross’ latest series, the “pre-apocalyptic crime drama” Hard Sun.

Penned by cross and directed by Brian Kirk (Game of Thrones), the series stars Agyness Deyn and Jim Sturgess as Detective Inspector Elaine Renko and Detective Chief Inspector Charlie Hicks, two London police officers in a world heading towards the apocalypse.

Hicks is a family man and a great, committed officer. He’s also profoundly corrupt. Renko is a difficult and damaged, but utterly incorruptible officer.  Thus, the two cops stand on different ends of the social and moral spectrum and also seriously distrust one other – and for good reason.  But they must somehow learn to work together if they’re going to survive until the end of the world.

Hard Sun will premiere on BBC One on January 6th 2018 in the UK and on Hulu on March 7th in the States.
