Ten years of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will culminate this May with the release of Avengers: Infinity War, as Earth’s Mightiest Heroes find themselves battling to save the universe from Josh Brolin’s cosmic villain Thanos.
Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige has previously teased that Avengers: Infinity War will show “why Thanos is the biggest and baddest villain in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe”, and now co-director Anthony Russo has been chatting about the villain and his central role in the superhero epic.
“I’m most excited for the audience to learn about [Thanos]. I think he’s a very interesting and complex villain. That’s why I like him, that’s why I’m excited for the audience to learn about him. I think his motivations are, albeit, psychotic, compelling, and I think that this, in a lot of ways, is his movie, so it’s going to be very interesting to see how people respond to Thanos.”
If there’s one criticism that has been aimed towards the Marvel Cinematic Universe it’s that the movies haven’t always delivered in the villain department, so let’s hope Avengers: Infinity War sets that right.
An unprecedented cinematic journey ten years in the making and spanning the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios’ “Avengers: Infinity War” brings to the screen the ultimate, deadliest showdown of all time. The Avengers and their Super Hero allies must be willing to sacrifice all in an attempt to defeat the powerful Thanos before his blitz of devastation and ruin puts an end to the universe.
