Superman prequel series Metropolis coming to DC’s streaming service

January 30, 2018 by Ricky Church

Fans can look forward to yet another Superman-inspired prequel TV series coming to DC’s upcoming streaming service. Titled Metropolis, the series will take a look at the city before Superman’s arrival and focus on his future wife, Lois Lane, and his future archnemesis, Lex Luthor.

Set in the wondrous and awe-inspiring City of Tomorrow before the arrival of Superman, Metropolis follows Lois Lane and Lex Luthor as they investigate the world of fringe science and expose the city’s dark and bizarre secrets.

The series will go into production later this year for a 13-episode season to premiere in 2019. It comes from Gotham executive producers John Stephens and Danny Cannon, who will also be executive producing this series. Cannon is set to direct the pilot episode from a script Stephens wrote, based upon a story they worked on together.

DC’s streaming service will officially launch later this year with the live-action Titans, a series about the young heroes and sidekicks of the DC universe, and the return of the fan-favourite Young Justice animated series, Young Justice: Outsiders. There is also a Harley Quinn animated series coming to the streaming platform as well.

Krypton, another Superman prequel series which airs in March on SyFy, focuses on Superman’s grandfather Seg-El as he tries to restore honour to the House of El and prevent Krypton’s destruction. Watch the first trailer here.
