Olivia Munn, Justin Theroux and Anthony LaPaglia cast in Violet

March 28, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Variety is reporting that Olivia Munn (X-Men: Apocalypse) has been cast in the title role in Violet, the feature directorial debut of former Family Ties star Justine Bateman, where she will star alongside Justin Theroux (The Leftovers) and Anthony LaPaglia (Without a Trace).

According to the site, Violet sees Munn as “a rising film executive who lives according to the Voice (Theroux) in her head, until unexpectedly realizing the truth — it’s been lying about everything.” LaPaglia also portrays Violet’s boss, “who dilutes her confidence in a way similar to the Voice.

Director Bateman debuted her short Five Minutes at the Toronto Film Festival and has recently completed her second short film Push. She also received Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for her acting work in Family Ties back in 1986 and 1987.

Munn will next be seen in Shane Black’s The Predator, and also has roles in Ocean’s 8 and X-Men: Dark Phoenix, the latter of which was pushed back to 2019 earlier this week.
