Syfy’s Sharknado series to end with Sharknado 6

March 30, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Syfy scored a major success back in 2013 with its rather ridiculous sci-fi disaster comedy Sharknado, with the made-for-TV movie spawning a cult franchise which has so far extended to four sequels in Sharknado 2: The Second One, Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!, Sharknado: The 4th Awakens and last year’s Sharknado 5: Global Swarming.

We found out last month that a sixth entry is in the works for this year, reuniting series stars Ian Ziering, Tara Reid, Cassie Scerbo and Vivica A. Fox as well as director Anthony C. Ferrante. And, according to TV Line, the as-yet-untitled Sharknado 6 will see Syfy bringing the curtain down on the series and serve as the final instalment in the campy franchise.

With Sharknado 5: Global Swarming ending with Ziering’s Fin wandering Earth alone after it had been destroyed, the sixth movie will see him embarking on a quest to save the world and resurrect his family. To do so, he’ll travel through time, battling Nazis, dinosaurs, and knights, as he attempts to prevent the very first Sharknado that started it all.

Sharknado 6 will premiere on Syfy on July 25th 2018.
