God of War soundtrack available to enjoy now

April 17, 2018 by Andrew Newton

There’s just a few more days to go until the release of Santa Monica Studio’s highly anticipated God of War which will see Kratos return to take on Northern Europe, however, if the wait is becoming unbearable then you can head on over to Spotify now to purchase the full soundtrack composed by Emmy award winning composer Bear McCreary (The Walking Dead).   The God of War game will be released on 20th April and the soundtrack available from other sites on the same day.

In a recent interview with Playstation, Bear McCreary shared his thoughts about the atmospheric soundtrack.

“When Santa Monica Studio asked me to compose the score to the new God of War, I was awestruck, because I’m such a fan of the original games in the franchise. As I collaborated with game director Cory Barlog, it became clear that this new game would require wholly new music that did not revisit the memorable scores of the original games, but instead ventured forth into new musical territory. I took my memories of that classic God of War soundtrack – the deep choirs, pounding drums, and shrieking brass – and reinvented them for a Norse age. I wrote new themes, and introduced to the music exotic instrumentation and languages from various Northern European folk traditions.”

You can read the full interview on the Playstation blog here.

God of War will be available exclusively on Playstation 4 on 20th April.
