R.I.P. Margot Kidder (1948 – 2018)

May 14, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Actress Margot Kidder, best known for portraying Lois Lane opposite Christopher Reeve’s Clark Kent in the Superman movie series, passed away at her home in Livingston, Montana yesterday, aged 69.

Kidder began her career in the late 1960s, scoring her first major role alongside Beau Bridges in 1969’s Gaily, Gaily. Over the next few years she would appear in the likes of Quackser Fortune Has a Cousin in the Bronx, Sisters, Black Christmas and The Great Waldo Pepper before securing the iconic role of roving reporter Lois Lane in 1978’s Superman: The Movie.

Kidder would reprise the role of Lois Lane in Superman II, Superman III and Superman IV: The Quest for Peace, and later made a cameo appearance in the Superman prequel series Smallville. Her other film roles included The Amityville Horror, Heartaches, Trenchcoat and Little Treasure.

Kidder would also guest star in a host of TV series over the years, and in 2015 she was honoured a Daytime Emmy Award for a guest performance in the children’s series R.L. Stine’s The Haunting Hour.
