The director of Super Troopers has met with Marvel about an MCU film

June 7, 2018 by Samuel Brace

Jay Chandrasekhar, director of Super Troopers, has revealed that he’s met with Marvel about potentially making an MCU film.

With the breadth of films the Marvel Cinematic Universe pumps out and will likely continue to create, they will, of course, be meeting with their fair-share of directors. One filmmaker that has apparently been on their radar is cult director of Super Troopers Jay Chandrasekhar.

Chandrasekhar spoke to Syfy about the meeting and what it might mean for his future. Telling them that Marvel approached him about which projects he would be interested in for the next phase of Marvel movies:

“They sent me the Marvel Encyclopedia and they said, what do you guys want to do? So, it’s upstairs. My kid’s going through it. And he’s going to make a list of what he thinks we should do, and I’ll go through it. I’m curious to see what a 13-year-old’s mind comes up with. There are certain ones that are owned by Fox, so you can’t do those. But there are plenty of people there — I mean, look at Deadpool. You’re like, well I didn’t know you could do that. Great. Let’s do something like that. Right?”

While having something as out there and adult as Deadpool in the MCU is a topic of debate right now, it sounds like if Chandrasekhar does come on board that fans should expect something a little bit different.

UPDATE: Chandrasekhar has replied on Twitter stating that it was a general meeting, with no specifics mentioned…

We had a general meeting. There was literally nothing specific mentioned.

Everyone’s favorite law enforcement team is back by popular demand with the long anticipated follow up to the cult comedy classic…SUPER TROOPERS. When an international border dispute arises between the U.S. and Canada, the Super Troopers- Mac, Thorny, Foster, Rabbit and Farva, are called in to set up a new Highway Patrol station in the disputed area. Unconventional police work follows, and the result is…SUPER TROOPERS 2.

Super Troopers 2 opens in the UK on June 15th 2018.
