Viggo Mortensen offers his advice to Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings cast

November 8, 2018 by Samuel Brace

Viggo Mortensen, the actor behind Aragorn in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy, has offered up some advice for the cast of Amazon’s new series.

There aren’t many actors better versed in what it takes to bring Tolkien’s epic work to life than Viggo Mortensen, who played Aragorn in The Lord of the Rings films.

Amazon is currently producing a new take on the classic books and Mortensen has offered his advice to the actors who are set to inhabit Tolkien’s fantastical world. Speaking to Collider, the actor said:

“I would say, not only read the book, you know, very thoroughly, that giant book of Lord of the Rings, but you could read some of the Nordic sagas. You’ll get some clues there as to where Tolkien got his information. Like, Sigurd the Dragon Slayer, and the Volsunga saga. Read that.”

So whoever is cast in the project will need to dust off their library card, or at least head over to Amazon and pick up a book or two, according to Mortensen. That is if they want to do the books justice. Are you excited about the series?
