Karen Gillan to play an assassin in action thriller Gunpowder Milkshake

January 9, 2019 by Ricky Church

Karen Gillan (Guardians of the Galaxy) is set to play an assassin in the action thriller Gunpowder Milkshake, per The Hollywood Reporter. The film will be directed by Aharon Keshales and Navot Papushado, the pair behind the Israeli hit Big Bad Wolves, and is being produced by Studiocanal and The Picture Company.

Story details are currently unknown, but it is being described as “in the assassin genre in a story that spans multiple generations”. The entire cast is expected to be all female with Gillan as the main lead. Keshales and Papushado wrote the script with Ehud Lavski and are said to have looked at Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill and Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver for inspiration due to their “stylish, snappy and violent” quality.

Gillan is set to reprise her Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle role in February as Jumanji 3 begins production. Once that is completed, she will move onto Gunpwder Milkshake which is expected to shoot in Germany during the spring. Gillan will be seen next in Avengers: Endgame, where she will reprise her Guardians of the Galaxy role as Nebula.
