WWE NXT Takeover: Phoenix Predictions

January 23, 2019 by Liam Hoofe

The Undisputed Era Vs War Raiders

This one is perhaps the toughest match of the night to call. War Raiders are on a roll right now, but the Undisputed Era have been nothing short of exceptional over the last year. The group probably deserve a chance to compete at WrestleMania weekend and it would be nice to see them walk into Brooklyn with the titles.

That being said, there have been some cracks showing in the group’s unity, and a civil war erupting is very much a possibility. I’m going to go with my head over my heart with this one and crown some new champions this weekend.

Prediction: War Raiders win

Shayna Baszler Vs Bianca Belair

Shayna Baszler’s time in NXT is coming to a close, with the former MMA fighter likely to move up to the main roster after WrestleMania, or maybe even before. It will be that timing that decides the result of this match. Belair is one of the most unique talents on the NXT roster, and would no doubt make for an excellent NXT Women’s Champion.

That being said, a big victory over WrestleMania weekend would prove to be a much more effective coming out moment for her, so the WWE will probably want to hold out for that. Expect Baszler to find a way to hold on to her title for a little while longer on Saturday night.

Prediction: Shayna Baszler retains

Aleister Black Vs Tommaso Ciampa

While there are plenty of rumblings online about Ciampa stepping up to the main roster, the current NXT Champion deserves to be on the main event over WrestleMania weekend. His opponent, however, has done all there is to do in NXT, and this should be his swan song before he steps up to the main roster the following night.

Ciampa’s reign still has a couple of months left in it yet, and after a match of the year contender, he should walk away with his Championship still intact.

Prediction: Tommaso Ciampa retains
