Titan’s Blade Runner comic titled Blade Runner 2019, character sketches revealed

February 22, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Titan has announced that its hotly-anticipated official Blade Runner comic book is going by the title of Blade Runner 2019, and will be set during the exact timeframe of Ridley Scott’s original film, featuring a mostly new set of characters and situations.

As part of the announcement, Titan has also revealed that artist Andres Guinaldo (Justice League Dark) is set to work on the series, which is being scripted by Michael Green (Blade Runner 2049) and Mike Johnson (Star Trek). Here’s a look at some character sketches from Guinaldo, which includes of the book’s featured characters Ash, “a female Blade Runner who is more than she seems.”

“I was 19 when I first saw Blade Runner and I left the cinema dazed and stunned,” stated Titan editor David Leach. “Frankly, it blew my tiny little art school mind so the opportunity to work on this new comic set in that same world is an absolute thrill and honour!”

“We are excited about exploring and expanding the Blade Runner universe,” said Alcon’s Director of Publishing, Jeff Conner. “The 2019 setting provides a broad canvas for the creative team to present fresh stories and compelling characters.”

Blade Runner 2019 is the first of several planned comics and graphic novels from Titan and Alcon Media which will expand the canon of the celebrated sci-fi universe.
